Thor has a very special story. Rescued from the streets of Mexico where he was found stray, dragging his hind legs that were not working and failed him, through the dirty streets and living off garbage... local rescuers reached out and crossed him over the border to The REAL Bark. He has been in rehab and is mostly walking on his own now. He needs a special home who can help him continue his rehab and ongoing physical therapy. He is super friendly with dogs and people and children and loves to hand out kisses.
Bitsy Johnson was found roaming in traffic on the streets of LA with no collar or microchip and, after 3 weeks with no one claiming her, she entered our adoption program. Bitsy has not looked back since being rescued! She was far too busy learning about life indoors in a loving foster home, with other dogs for company, learning to trust people again, to play with her new 4-legged friends, to relax and enjoy life. She is a sweet, quiet girl who loves to snuggle and cuddle more than anything. She is now potty and crate trained, and enjoys playing with toys. We suspect that Bitsy experienced neglect or abuse in per past because she was fearful of new people at first. Sheâs much better with new people now but loud noises can still frighten her so she will require patience from her new family in order to help her feel safe and secure, but she is ready to meet special someone and to continue her journey with them.
Beautiful Katie Couric was surrendered to a shelter when she was not longer of use breeding puppies. She has some scars on her face, head and body, possibly from dog bites. Despite her sad, and likely traumatic past, she is very calm and sweet with people and other dogs. Katie would love nothing more than to ring in the New Year in a forever home with people who will love and protect her. She is a small pocket pittie weighing 40 lbs so does not take up much room at all!!!
Maddow is a beautiful 40 lbs shepherd mix who was stray and found herself at a local shelter. She is a very sweet and loving girl, loves her human folks very much and would be best in a home where she is not left alone for long periods of time.
Frankie is young at heart! His human had to go into a nursing home where she was unable to take him with her. He is a very sweet boy, quiet, playful, enjoys human interaction and is good with other dogs. He has been the only dog in the household all his life but would very likely be able to share a home with another dog, with the proper introduction. He has no aggressive tendencies whatsoever. He is a calm, mild-mannered fellow looking forward to the next stage of his life!
Jack spent the first 6 month of his life crated. Understandably that experience had some effect on his personality but he is much better now with new people. If you approach him kindly he is very receptive. Jack is fine with calm children but hyper kids overwhelm him. He is very sweet and loving, loyal as can be, friendly with cats and new dogs. Jack and his sister Bilbey recently had to say goodbye to their mom when she went into hospice care. They love each other very much so while it is their momâs wish to see them adopted together, her primary concern is to ensure that her babies go to good homes (so they can be separated if necessary). Come meet these little darlings and you will be guaranteed to fall in love.
Bilbey was originally found stray, sitting in the middle of the road where a good samaritan witnessed an SUV roll right over her! Luckily she stayed put and was not hit before she was successfully rescued. Bilbey is very sweet and loving, friendly with new people and dogs. She is curious about cats and tested well. She and her brother Jack recently had to say goodbye to their mom when she went into hospice care. They love each other very much so while it is their momâs wish to see them adopted together, her primary concern is to ensure that her babies go to good homes (so they can be separated if necessary). Come meet these little darlings and you will be guaranteed to fall in love.
Monet was left unattended and neglected at her former home, and is now safe and ready for the next happy chapter in her life. She is 6 months and is a gentle, calm and quiet girl who seems good with other dogs, and likely do well in a home that are over 8 years of age. She is a lovely and beautiful lab mix and would love to meet you!
She is microchipped, and has her first round of puppy vaccinations and rabies. The REAL Bark will take care of remaining puppy vaccinations and spay. She is currently 28 lbs and will likely be about 45-50 lbs full grown.
Matteo was found in Mexico after someone witnessed him being thrown out of a car. Poor little thing just got right back up and walked away... until a good Samaritan followed and alerted us of a need to cross the border. He is a sweet, quiet puppy, very gentle and inquisitive and very much looking for that perfect home where he will grow up to be a fine young adult boy!!!
The REAL Bark will take care of remaining puppy vaccinations and neuter.
Fernando is a 9 week old energy bunny, full of life and curiosity! He was found stray in Mexico and asked the first rescuer he met if he could get help to cross the border, then ended up with The REAL Bark. He has his first round of puppy vaccinations and we will take care of all remaining vaccinations and neuter. He is looking for a foster or adopter in his newly found homeland of Los Angeles!
This small, terrified, and devastated pup, was found in horrific shape. He was found by the kind folks at the shelter, wandering around lost with his eye outside his head. His injured eye was removed and is now healing very well. He made his way to The REAL Bark from the shelter and is now on his way to full wellness in a fine foster home filled with love. He loves to cuddle, snuggle, find comfy positions, burrow, and perch. He is very good with other dogs, and would be best in a home without young children.
